“Stranger Things”: Millie Bobby Brown Talks About Her Sadness After the Finale

It’s been six months since the finale of Stranger Things: after five seasons, the Upside Down is no longer scary, but the scars of those shocking events remain in the memories of both the audience and the cast. Millie Bobby Brown will have to live with the weight of her character’s ambiguous fate, but that isn’t the heaviest burden she’s ever borne.

The actress who played Eleven—since her debut in show business at just 10 years old—revealed that saying goodbye to Stranger Things was traumatic. The nostalgia that sets in when a project this demanding comes to an end can be overwhelming, but Millie Bobby Brown had to navigate a mix of intense emotions, including the sense of change and the fear that the co-stars with whom she’d formed close bonds would drift apart once the show ended.

“I went through a period of mild depression,” Bobby Brown told the Happy Sad Confused podcast. “It was very difficult for me. I never would have expected it after the series ended because I’m a very carefree and cheerful person.”

For Millie Bobby Brown, there’s a before and after Stranger Things

Saying goodbye to the series that launched her international career was a hard blow for the actress. All good things must come to an end sooner or later, and the star feared that even the bonds formed on set might be broken: “I started the series when I was 10 years old, and this character was me, and these people were the most important in my life,” Millie Bobby Brown continued. “I saw them more often than my own family. Saying goodbye to all of this after 10 years was truly very emotional. I’ll miss Eleven more than anything else.”

While nostalgia overwhelms fans who experienced the story through a screen, the emotional impact on the actors who brought this TV series to life firsthand is certainly enormous. Is there a chance Millie Bobby Brown will return to play Eleven once again? The Duffer Brothers have dashed any hopes fans might have had, stating that the audience wants more original stories set in the Stranger Things universe. With the Hawkins chapter closed, the actress is ready to embark on new, thrilling adventures (including marriage) in the third Enola Holmes movie!
